Thousands of Cattle Die in Kansas: Extreme Heat Devastates Livestock Industry
According to a statement from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, at least 2,000 cattle died the previous day in the state. There's been a significant increase in mass animal deaths due to high temperatures and humidity.
Kansas, which houses over 6.5 million head of cattle, ranks among the top states for livestock farming, trailing only Texas and Nebraska. However, the recent extreme heat and humidity have led to the deaths of thousands of cattle, dealing a major blow to the state's livestock industry.
These mass mortalities are adding a significant burden to farmers who are already operating under challenging conditions, adversely affecting the sector as a whole.
